February 26, 1993 marks the 30 anniversary of the bombing of the World Trade Center when 6 workers and an unborn child lost their lives and over a thousand were injured. Among those killed were Port Authority employees Monica Rodriguez and her unborn child, Steve Knapp, Bob Kirkpatrick and Bill Macko. Our member Gus Preschle had been their co-worker and he knew each of them well. He asks that we remember them today. On a positive note, their loss lead to enhanced security measures, emergency systems and building fire codes that now protect thousands of people in New York and other cities. These changes no doubt helped save thousands at the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001.
