JANUARY TOPIC: Divinity
What does the word divinity mean to you? How is your definition affected by lived experience and your free and responsible search for truth and meaning?
In this month’s meeting, we will consider the definition of divinity as we continue to practice and improve our skills as a Socratic Inquisition Partnership. As we answer these questions individually, we’ll practice listening deeply so that we can ask thoughtful questions about each others’ beliefs.
Socratic Inquisition Partnership (SIP)
This group will work within the UU framework to establish clarity and mutual understanding of complex social issues. By discussing and challenging the terminology and ideas underpinning modern social discourse, we seek first to share an understanding even if we do not agree. Then, we question the ways our words, ideas, and resultant societal misunderstandings divide us and inhibit effective social engagement by the greater whole.
Leaning into the acronym, tea and coffee will be available. We will not try to gulp these topics, but rather, sip them as we consider myriad view points, intentionally question and argue opposing views, as we work to reach a group view – or a group understanding that we do not not all agree.
Interested? Join in person (only) in the Fellowship library.
