Looking to Nature: A Modern Way of Being Spiritual without the Supernatural
Come join us for a presentation by Todd Macalister as he discusses his new book, Looking to Nature: Exploring a Modern Way of Being Spiritual without the Supernatural. As involvement in traditional religion is declining, many are exploring ways that a spiritual sense can be grounded in an appreciation of the natural world. Building from ideas described by Carl Sagan, Albert Einstein, Fritjof Capra, Steven Pinker, Ursula Goodenough, and other authors, Todd will explore how a worldview grounded in science can show order and beauty, a foundation for values, and reasons to appreciate and care for others. He will also address potential challenges and questions that can come with this perspective as well as different practices that can enrich our understanding of the natural world and generally enhance our experience of life.
Discussion will follow the presentation.
