THIS WEEK’S TOPIC
“A Reverence for Life, Part 1”
My sermon this Sunday begins a four-part sermon series. I will preach for three of those, and the last speaker this month will be a guest minister. We will be unified in our theme.
The month of April’s worship services is devoted to the environment, the ecological crisis, and what we can do about it. This effort represents a partnership between me, the Ecological Solutions Committee, and the Worship Committee.
The Ecological Solutions Committee has created many programs and activities beyond the Worship services to advance the vital message they are bringing to the Fellowship’s attention in April. An incredible amount of planning has gone into this month of services and related activities to lift up this crucial subject. I hope you can engage others to participate.
My first sermon in this series will focus on what the ecological crisis reveals about us. The environmental changes we see across the world reveal two basic facts: First, that human beings have gotten deeply out of harmony with nature, beginning centuries ago but approaching a crescendo in our current age; secondly, we are being called to acknowledge and embrace who we are, namely interdependent creatures needing to see our place within the natural order and to grow toward a deeper harmony with nature.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
