THIS WEEK’S TOPIC
“A Reverence for Life, Part 2”
This is the second in a four-part sermon series devoted to the ecological crisis and what we can do about it. Please invite anyone you know who cares about this issue to join us.
People react in various ways to the climate crisis:
Do not bother me – I have enough to worry about.
It is true, but I do not care.
It is not true – denial.
It gives me a sense of doom and despair.
Other social justice issues take priority.
We are doomed, so let us move to another planet (Elon Musk’s intention)
I am trying to encourage the following path:
I understand the problem and will stay engaged. There is time to act, we can act, and we can succeed. I see this issue not in competition with other justice issues but as part of a pattern that reveals how human beings are out of harmony with life. I see the interconnections of all justice issues and know that to struggle with one is to struggle with them all.
This week I will share some of the good news about all that is being done to help turn the climate crisis around and improve our relationship with our planet. These provide a rising tide of response to climate change which we can all be a part of.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday.
