Writing in community can be a positive spiritual practice. In a sense, writing as a spiritual practice is like meditating on paper to become mindful of who we are. It is a process of paying attention to what matters.

“Writing as a Spiritual Practice” functions as a ‘virtual’ drop-in group. Once you register through the Zoom link https://uufws.org/virtual-writing-spiritual-practice, you can choose to attend as many sessions as you like, using the same Zoom link every time. Please arrive on time to any session that you attend. After we take a moment to say hello and introduce ourselves, I will share a quotation and a writing prompt – then everyone will write for about ten minutes. Bring paper and a pen or pencil – of course it’s also fine if you prefer to write on your laptop.

After about ten minutes of writing, those who wish to do so will share what we have written. We don’t offer comments about another person’s writing, we simply listen attentively to each reading. When all who choose to have shared their writing, we take the remaining time for whatever conversation emerges. We do not critique anyone’s writing.

There are a total of twelve sessions. Contact Pam Lepley at dre@uufws.org with any questions.
