Location: Big Classroom (Emerson/Thoreau) Join us for a heartfelt and informative presentation on the life-saving power of organ and tissue donation. With over 104,000 people across the U.S., including more than 4,000 in North Carolina, waiting for a transplant, the need has never been greater. We’ll explore what can be donated, how these gifts heal and save lives, and address a few common misconceptions. You’ll also learn how easy it is to register your decision, either online or when renewing your driver’s license. While choosing to be a donor is a profoundly personal decision, it can bring lasting hope to others, and it all starts with a simple conversation.

Location: Big Classroom (Emerson/Thoreau) Digital scams are flooding our phones, computers, and even mailboxes—yes, the old-school scammers are still at it. Fueled by massive data breaches and AI-driven deception, these schemes are becoming more sophisticated and harder to detect. However cautious you think you are, it’s probably not cautious enough. In this session, we’ll explore why scams are so rampant, dissect their timeless anatomy, and uncover how little the tactics have changed over the past century. Most importantly, we’ll discuss how to protect your money—because, unfortunately, banks and government agencies won’t always do it for you.

Together, we’ll learn how protecting fireflies is about more than saving insects—it’s about rekindling the nostalgic magic of our childhood nights and honoring our place in the web of life.
