October 16th (October 23rd rain date) - Join fellow UU members on an approximately 3.5 mile loop in Stone Mountain State Park. This is NOT the classic (and strenuous) Stone Mountain Loop Trail, but rather a combination of Wolf Rock Trail and Cedar Rock Trail. This hike is rated "moderate" with primarily one gentle but long incline near the beginning. We will traverse over some open rock expanses with a chance to rest and eat a lunch/snack atop Wolf Rock, with lovely views of the surrounding hills. We will also have several opportunities to view Stone Mountain itself. The end of the hike will pass by the historic Hutchinson Homestead. Optional: There is the possibility of stopping at Divine Llama Winery on the return, near East Bend, for any who are interested. This winery has a very pleasant patio with outdoor service and access to restrooms. It is also pleasant to walk through the farm and visit the llamas, and they have a food truck on site frequently on Saturdays. Contact Cynthia Braun for more information.
You Belong to the Fellowship, the Fellowship Belongs to You - and as an integral part of our Fellowship, your input is needed. One of the things that sets UUs apart from other religions is that we are covenantal vs. creedal. Yet the Committee on Ministry (COM) recently found that most of our members were unfamiliar with our covenant. When asking for input on incorporating the covenant more fully into all that we do, COM learned that many people find it too long and hard to remember. All members are invited to participate in a session to create a covenant that is meaningful and easier to remember. A process called Appreciative Inquiry will be used to build on our Fellowship’s strengths. Using Zoom, members will meet with facilitators in small groups then share what they learn with the full group. To participate, sign up for one of the following dates and times: Saturday, October 16 from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM and Sunday, October 24 after the service from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
