Fellowship members and friends, let's get outside to enjoy nature. This hike consists of 2 parts. The first part mainly involves the area/woods west of "Lake Katherine wetlands"; it's about 1.5-2 miles and moderate. The second part involves the area/woods east (i.e. on wfu-side) of "Lake Katherine woodlands"; it's also about 1.5-2 miles and is also moderate. The beginning and ending place for both parts is the lawn immediately in front of Reynolda house - so one can easily just do the first part of the hike. You can park in the spaces near the front of the house, or park in Reynolda Village and walk over. This is a "mask mandatory" event. You must wear a mask the entire hike. If you have questions, please contact the trip leader Jim Norris or email@example.com. To signup, click here ---> https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090F48A8AC28A0F58-ecosolutions2
By popular demand, EcoSolutions is again offering an urban hike/stroll that will take us over the new W-S Strollway Pedestrian Bridge that spans across Salem Parkway. Like its predecessor, this is a 2.5 mile loop on paved and gravel surfaces. Only a few gentle inclines and pavement can be uneven in places. We will park and meet up in the parking lot near Willows Bistro on Liberty Street and follow the Strollway up to Fourth Street, loop through Old Salem past the cemetery and to the pedestrian covered bridge over Old Salem Road and return back via the Strollway. This is a good sampling of our city's pedestrian amenities. Depending on the weather and folks' inclinations, there is the possibility of enjoying a drink or snack on the outside patio at Willows after the walk. Highly recommended that one brings a bottle of water for the hike and also wears sunscreen. Masks are mandatory. Limit 10 adults. On Friday July 16, beginning at 4pm, join your UUFWS friends in hiking several Bethania trails. We will meet in the parking lot of the Bethania Visitor Center. We will go on several lowland, relatively flat or low incline trails, starting with the Black Walnut Bottom trail that loops around, ending back at the Visitor Center. For those desiring additional hiking, we will continue across the street to include the Graveyard and Orchard Trails, returning to the Visitor Center. Outside the Visitor Center, there is a nice heavily shaded picnic table area for winding down, conversation, and/or eating of food that you may have brought. Last activity scheduled to end by 7:30pm. Sign up here.
