Traditional Worship Service

September 22 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Fellowship Hall, 4055 Robhinhood Road
Winston-Salem, 27106 United States

A Legacy of Life - What does it mean to be part of a living tradition that draws from the past even as it trusts the dawning future? How does any of us outlast our individual time on earth? We’re not talking about leaving money, but leaving behind traces of the meaning we’ve found and the lives we’ve crafted. The service is followed by a free lunch, and a chance to watch a brief video from 20 years ago, featuring some of our Fellowship’s elders and ancestors talking about the early days of our beloved community, and their hopes for their legacy, and ours. Childcare is provided, and of course the home-made lunch includes tasty vegan and gluten-free options.

Pathways to Belonging

Pathways to Belonging is a class in which newcomers can find out more about Unitarian Universalism. The purpose of this class is to help you consider where you are on your life’s journey and how the Fellowship can be a resource in your ongoing search for meaning. The class will also deepen participants’ understanding of a spiritual community and clarify mutual expectations that make life in a spiritual community rewarding. Rev. Lisa Schwartz leads the discussion. Child care is provided with advance request. If you’re new to the Fellowship and you like what you find here, email Caron Armstrong at coordinator@uufws.org to reserve your place in the final Pathways to Belonging session of 2019, or register through the website. Class size is limited.

Pi Day is an annual celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi). Like our love for pie, pi is infinite. Everyone should bring a pie -- pizza, quiche, any dessert pie, crustless and vegan or full of butter -- all pies, and people, are welcome. There will be contests to see who can recite the most digits of pi, and the ever-popular "pin the mustache on Albert Einstein" game (3/14 is Albert's birthday, too).
