As we ground ourselves for our year of worship, so too do we ground ourselves in the reality of our UUFWS community and the community beyond our walls, both of which are affected by class and caste. Join us for this worship service that accompanies the “High Cost of Poverty” adult education & social action series happening September 28th and October 5th.
Poverty is said to exist when people lack the means to satisfy their basic needs. Poverty exists regardless of race, creed, or ethnicity. Often, there is a social stigma attached to those who live in poverty, but there are many reasons for impoverishment. We ask aloud today, is poverty a justice issue, a moral issue, or both? Let’s abandon judgments and status quo, and root ourselves in empathy and understanding with those who are living without enough to thrive.
